  concerning the 2nd coming of christ i'll say this.. nobody understood the first coming.

  what makes you think those people knew anything at all about a 2nd coming?

  if any part of the bible messege wasn't garbled it's clear the apostles and 1st century christians who should have/might have been privvy to information of this nature didn't know squat!

  Do the JWs worship a 'Satanic' God??

  if animal sacrifices is considered 'satanic/pagan/occultish' practice, then why do the jws worship a god who demanded animal sacrifices and still consider that blood be poured on the ground or discarded as a sacrifice to god?.

  following the wtbts practice of following everything back to its source (supposedly) to discover why it was done and then label it as satanic, why do they still continue their obsession with blood?.

  i just read the topic "i thought i was alone" by newbie elinor.

  i found it interesting how he mentioned that he wanted to throw the daniel book "across the room" after reading some of the many misapplied prophecies concocted by the overlord's in brooklyn.

  when i was a jw i also fantasized at times of throwing the book across the room, but for me it was the revelation book over ten years ago.

  Terry: Great analogy about the puzzle thing. My JW MIL would do the newspaper crosswords every day and would always have a snide remark when they'd misspell something just to fit it in - boy if I knew then what I know now - I'd have a empathetic remark or 2 LOL

  Did anyone watch CNN's "After Jesus"?

  it was on tonight - 2 hrs long, pretty good overview, for having to cover so much.

  from a jw's point of view, (which i'm not), i'd say they got some of it right, but also, alot wrong.

  if anyone did see it - at which point do you think most would've turned it off?

  Auld Soul - thanks for pointing that out. they do that so often and get away with it - thats why JWs believe Jesus is their mediator, and also that Jesus is the mediator for only the 144,000 they better not partake!
  
  I don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but the WT has also defined the word mediator as a position close to a legal representative. so that the next leap to seeing brooklyn as their mediator is a NO BRAINER.
  
  Is that why when the alarm bells start to (quietly at first) go off in their heads that the WT has set themselves up IN THE PLACE OF the messiah - something starts to slowly stink like a disgusting thing in a holy place?

  I'm not a JW, but when I watch a JWs reaction to anything Jesus related, I get the impression there is a deep jealousy, resentment, even hate. Like maybe Jesus gets more people following him than Jehovah, so they have to VINDICATE their god's name, in a competitive way. Do everything they can to downgrade him like boycott his celebrations, trivialize his importance, favour other people's words over Jesus' from the bible.
  
  so in answer to your question..... I agree that they stay away from terms related to Jesus.

  Please rescue me! I just got hit with a JW Mac Truck!

  oh my, i just had a visit from a jw who proceeded to, for an hour and half, try and cover every doctrine in the book, jump from scripture to scripture, half the time i was so confused about what was being said.

  the other witness barely got a word in edgewise.

  i quickly realized that there was going to be no discussion--it was sit and listen and try and look intelligent.

  So where was the host of this get-to-gether?.... Sounds like he failed his theocratic duty of steering the conversation and making sure that no one person dominated............No wonder the WT has to waste valuable time on study articles to curb this enthusiasm.
  
  Another thought is that he is having serious doubts and is in the process of trying to re-convince himself.

  We do white elephant gifts as well - but it has a bit different spin - It must be something you have around the house - something that, well, you don't know why you still have it hanging around. No names are on them and the game is played where there's quite a bit of trading going on before everyone finally opens one. So how it is wrapped, the size, weight, etc can really get things going. LOL The funniest things come out, esp. when one man's __________ is another man's treasure. Have fun with yours!
